The National Carillon is a significant heritage landmark in Canberra, from which the sounds of its chiming can usually be heard much further away in the Parliamentary Triangle, Kingston and Civic in the ACT. In recent years, the Carillon has undergone several renovations, mainly in its attempt to project an interactive wireless colour changing solution that could be customisable for special events and occasions. Several challenges arising throughout the Design and Construct process led to a suboptimal result, with flickering lights and a lack of saturation of colour requiring immediate rectification. Therefore, to provide this landmark with the prestigious lighting solution it deserves, Integral Lighting engaged with WE-EF Lighting to provide specialist lighting services to upgrade technical facilities in this heritage building, prioritising the provision of new luminaries and projectors.
WE-EF LIGHTING were selected for the project due to the known luminaire quality, high output and the intense colour saturation that can be achieved with colour boost technology as well as for the technical team back-end help to ensure that there would be no future flickering issues with the WE-EF installation. Despite the immense time pressure of this project and initial difficulties with the flickering of luminaries, Drew Salzke, Ecowise Services electrical contractor said that “The new projectors illuminate it beautifully and Integral and WE-EF were great at pulling together to deliver amazing turnaround and fantastic result” Today, the Carillon now stands as an impressive structure that provides programmable colour-changing scenes to commemorate significant occasions.
